SRI KANCHI MAHASWAMI PADUKA PATTABHISHEKA VAIBHAVAM

On May 09, 1907 (The Tamil year Pilavanga, 27^th day of Chitra Masa) a rare occasion was witnessed by thousands of devotees of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam at Kumbakonam.

A Pattabhishekam was performed for Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswati Swamigal, the 68^th Acharya of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. Thousands of devotees participated in this rare event

The three day long ceremonial function featured several interesting things. The Tanjore band entertained audience with their melodious music. There were special pujas performed in all the major temples in Kumbakonam. On the day of the Pattabhishekam the Jagadguru visited all the major temples and had darshan of the presiding deity at the temples. Thousands of people participated in a massive ‘Annadanam’ organized by the Mutt. Vidwans and artistes received generous rewards and recognition at the Mutt.

At the auspicious Muhurtham abhishekam with water from the Ganga was performed for the Swamigal. Once the abhishekam was over it was a rare sight to witness when the young Acharya sat on the throne and gave darshan to the devotees. All the devotees gathered, paid their respects with various offerings and received the blessings of the Swamigal. That night the Swamigal went on a ceremonial procession on elephant back, followed by traditional music, vedagosham preceding the elephant. It was indeed a rare and unforgettable event.

Recreating the magic moments

There are only memories of the occasion through books and anecdotes passed on to various people over the years.

Sri Kanchi Mahaswami Peetarohana Shatabdi Mahotsav Trust is recreating the Pattabhishekam event in Kumbakonam this year. The event will be performed with the holy padukas of the Mahaswami on May 27^th and May 28^th 2006 at Kumbakonam.

All devotees are cordially invited to participate in large number in this once-in-a life time occasion and received the blessings of the Acharyas.

Wanted translation help

The inaugural function of the Sri Kanchi Mahaswami Peetarohana Shatabdi Mahotsav went off very well in Mumbai.

All the publications brought out by the Shatabdi Mahotsav Trust were very well received by ardent devotees of the Mahaswami.

However there is still work to finish and we need help.

Voice of God

1. Tamil to English – Volumes 1, 2, 3 4 & 5 are ready. Volumes 6 & 7 are expected to be ready by May 31, 2006,
2. Hindi – Volume 1 is ready. All other volumes are expected to be ready by June 30, 2006
3. Marathi – Volumes 1 & 2 are ready. All other volumes are expected to be ready by June 30, 2006
4. Bengali – work on translation have started. We expect all 7 volumes to be ready by September 30, 2006
5. Telugu - work on translation have started. We expect all 7 volumes to be ready by September 30, 2006

We need translators to work on the following languages for the seven volumes:

4. Tamil/English to Malayalam
